Treasurer’s Report: Ian Webster gave a full and frank report of the clubs financial activities over the year which was summarised with the balance sheet being £5,532.94 overdrawn. This was approved as an accurate record.

Chairman’s Report:

The chairman reported that the season had been virtually spoilt by dreadfully bad weather conditions. This had played its part in all aspects of the club, including the playing sections, fundraising and general spirit of the members.

Despite the conditions, the first team had managed to finish runners up in the league and the second team had come third. He thanked Julian and Huw for coping well in difficult circumstances, stating that on many occasions players had cried from games by text on mobile phone, just hours before the game.

He thanked the Ladies for their wonderful support throughout the year and called for all members to be innovative and get behind the fundraising for this year’s 150th anniversary year.

Julian Burgess gave a presentation on the first team events of the season, expressing his thanks to the players. They had managed to finish second in the league and lost the Bissenden cup final on the toss of a coin. He expressed his belief that although the bowling had been strong throughout the season, it was the batting that had been below par.

Hugh Davis paid tribute to the second team with special mentions to Christian South, Jim Redfern, David Platt and Andy Ney; who had rescued the team from a first half relegation battle to a second half of the season that had seen them finish third.

Lorna Young gave a presentation of the women’s section and reported that they had also suffered from the weather with only 30% of the games being played. They had a new female DCC coach Sally Green, who had had a great influence on them and especially their juniors; with Lydia making the Under 15’s and 17’s county level, Katie making Under 15’s County and Emily making county trials. Awards were given to Jane Dawson for the best player and Emily Jennison for the most improved player.

Official Awards: The Sportsman of the year was awarded to Paul Taylor for his outstanding contribution over the years to our junior cricket.

The Ian Wood trophy for the best individual performance of the season was awarded to Russ Evans for his 148 against Tintwistle.

Rule Changes: there were no rule changes.
