CHAIRMANS REPORT
My first year as Chairman has seen the Club undertake a year of consolidation during the current economic conditions, so the Club has been prudent and has not spent as much on ground maintenance and development as it otherwise might. The senior squad suffered the loss of at least 4 key players, so on the pitch the 1st XI, led by the retiring Tom Jarvis, returned 7 wins, which was a disappointing season. The 2nd XI, led by Christian South, having feared relegation at one stage, actually finished in 6th place in the league. I look forward to even more commitment from the players this year to make this Club successful again. Hayfield old boy 19-year-old Matt Higginbottom represented Derbyshire C.C. against the Australian touring side during the summer. Our coach Paul Taylor leads our effort to nurture the next generation of talent from our junior cricketers and the Club will continue to do all it can to support this aim. The Under 13s and 16s both just missed out on winning their league. The Under 9s and 11s are showing great promise and I would like to thank our Captains, parents and junior players for their input. Our Ladies team have enjoyed high-quality coaching and Katie Davies played for Derbyshire Ladies 1st XI, a fantastic achievement.
The Village Fun Day was again a great success, as was the Bonfire Night, and we look forward to your continuing support again this year. I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of the Management Committee, and to thank our principal sponsor, Alken Engineering, for their continued support. Also many thanks to our ladies for their hard work with those excellent teas on every matchday.

Now in our eighth successful year, the womens section has a
great group of enthusiastic players and are always looking
for new members whether for competition or fun. The season
will start in April with coaching sessions on a Friday night. If
you are interested, telephone Lorna Young on 07855 458923,
or come along at 7pm on our practice evening.
HAYFIELD CC WOMENS SECTION
The third team is for occasional players who enjoy social
cricket. It is open to all Club members with the aim of raising
funds for our junior section. If you fancy a game, ring Tony
